Half Wig Edition: Blue Blazer by Model Model

06/21/2019 Update: I just found out my pictures aren't displaying now. Sorry beauties! I'm going to leave this post up so anyone can reference it, but I plan to publish a better post about this wig in the future (technology acting up can't stop me!).

Y'all. When I tell y'all finding wigs that blend well with 4c hair, even straightened 4c hair, can be a struggle...

For years, I did the half wig thing where you use a headband to cover the line of demarcation where the wig starts and try to make it look kinda sorta believable that you sprouted all of this hair overnight, and people (read: my family) would look at me with the "Should I tell her? I'ma tell her" face before saying my roots didn't blend.

It probably didn't help that I didn't want to slather my edges in gel to get them as sleek as possible, nor did I want to straighten my hair because I was terrified of heat damage. But I also didn't want my only options to be short wig, clown wig, crazy wig, or ridiculously expensive wig. And human hair wigs creep me out, so even if I saw a cute, affordable one, that was definitely out of the question. So for years, I just accepted the fact that I would never be able to blend my natural hair with any of the wigs I liked.

And then, I found the wig that changed all that: Blue Blazer by Model Model.

Now, I must say that I've been straightening my hair lately (because apparently I'm on a crusade to destroy my hair as much as possible - though no heat damage yet, thankfully!), and being the person who is never satisfied with her hair, I wore my straightened hair in a bun for one day, then went searching in my closet for the ponytail pieces/drawstring half wigs that I had bought months prior for the very moment they would become useful in the future.

I had wanted to wear a ponytail piece that hung down to the derriere, but then I thought that would've been too extra to wear to work. So when the Blue Blazer caught my eye, it looked like the perfect style to look cute, a little bit extra, and still professional.

Already accepting the fact that I might look crazy because this probably wouldn't blend that well with my tresses, I smoothed my hair back up into a baby bun and secured the Blue Blazer wig on top. And girlllll...

When I looked in the mirror, just like that, this wig became my new best friend. The blendage honey, the blendage. Now I know that straightening my hair helped to make this moment possible, but it was the first time since going natural that I had a wig that could pass for my real hair. Like, I was seriously astonished and wondering why I had put up with trying to "blend African edges with Indian hair", as some people so poetically put it, for so long. (Although, of course, it was "blending" my African-descended tresses with cheap, silky, synthetic hair, versus somebody else's real hair *shudder*, that caused me to look like the Struggling Beauty instead of the Bad and Bougie Beauty). But now? Oh, I knew I had found something real with Ms. Blue Blazer. Heyyy, best frienddd!

Oh. My. Lanta. Cue ponytail addiction.

I was really feeling myself in this wig, y'all, so of course I didn't want to stop this wearing it and go back to my sad baby bun with my real hair. But sometimes I get tired of hairstyles pretty quickly, so instead of continuing to wear the ponytail, I switched to wearing the wig down one day. And if you thought I was astonished before? Chileee, I was absolutely ecstatic to see how I had suddenly grown all this length in 2 seconds. The wig blended so well that my boyfriend (who sees my real hair all of the time) was dumbfounded and asked if it was my real hair when I walked out the bathroom. I'll give him a pass because he hadn't seen my real hair worn down for a little while. And his confusion let me know I was killin' it with this wig.

Me trying to smize or something because this wig had me feeling goodt (even in this humidity).

I did experiment with wearing it in different styles, but since my face decided to break out something terrible and it's been really humid this week, I'll spare you those pictures. But since I love this wig so much, I might do a part two one day to put some more respeck on its name.

The humidity was still trying to come for me, but you can see how good the blendage still is.

So the details:
  • Synthetic hair.
  • Blends amazingly with straightened, kinky hair.
  • Two combs, one in back and one in front.
  • It's rather long, coming down my back (but I'm a little on the short side, so it may differ for the next person).
  • No problems with tangling or shedding at all.
  • Worn every day for a week, in both the ponytail and down styles, and still looks brand new.
  • Very affordable.
  • I got mine at the Divatress website, but it seems to be pretty available at other locations as well.
  • You will love this wig!
I'm here to help all of my bad and bougie beauties, so if you have any questions or would like for me to review a wig, please leave a comment!

Stay beautiful.
